MNEMOSYNE: de Chirico and Antiquity – 2015

Phoenix Ancient Art and Helly Nahmad Gallery are pleased to present our catalogue for the MNEMOSYNE: de Chirico and Antiquity exhibition that has been on display at Helly Nahmad gallery since November 4th 2015 and has recently been extended through January 30th, 2016.

This exhibition juxtaposes 20th century paintings by Giorgio de Chirico and exceptional Greek and Roman antiquities allowing modern painting and ancient art to be displayed side by side.

Among the fine works presented here, please lend your eye to the outstanding Greco – Roman statue of Aphrodite Anadyomene from the collection of the Duke of Northumberland and Giorgio de Chirico’s “Les Philosophes Grecs, 1925” seen on the wall behind her left shoulder (p. 55).
